An Italian native, Christian Paterniti (1990) graduated in piano and composition with top marks and honours.

Parallel to the piano academic education, he attended masterclasses and studied with eminent masters like Leonid Margarius, Giuseppe Andaloro, Pierluigi Camicia, Roberto Cappello, Leslie Howard, Fabrizio Dorsi (conducting). 

Encouraged by a search for creativity, he devoted himself mostly to compositional activity, also participating in various seminars: in July 2016 with the Oscar winner John Corigliano on music architecture; in October 2019 with Paolo Vivaldi on picture sound; from June to October 2020 he was admitted in high musical composition course with Mauro Bonifacio and Azio Corghi at the “Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna”. 

In 2023 he received a postgraduate diploma at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome in the class of M° Ivan Fedele. 

He won first prizes in chamber music, piano, composition competitions and call for scores. 

As a composer, he has likewise obtained over forty awards, acknowledgements and performance in Italy as well as in Wien, Athens, Paris, New York, Seattle, Boston, North Hampton, Saint Petersburg, Busan (South Korea), São Paulo, Montréal (Canada), Bétera, Malaga, A Coruña (Spain), Kwidzyn (Poland), Chişinău (Moldova). 

His composition works and musical essays are published by Florestano Edizioni, Preludio Edizioni, Agenda edizioni, Libreria Musicale Italiana and MD Edizioni (Italy), Pizzicato Verlag Helvetia (Switzerland), Da Vinci Publishing (Japan).  His music has been recorded for Navona Records, broadcast by Radio CEMAT, Radio Mozart Italia and is performed in Italy, USA, Canada, Poland, Moldova. His performers include Ovidiu Marinescu, Anna Kislitsyna, Marco Ignoti, Giuseppina Scravaglieri, Gabriele Rota, NED Ensemble, ACHROME Ensemble, SEEM sax Quartet, Corelli Symphony Orchestra, Quatuor Molinari, Filarmonica Națională “Serghei Lunchevici”, Arxis Ensemble directed by Beat Furrer.

He has taught at the Conservatory “Francesco Cilea” in Reggio Calabria and “Domenico Cimarosa” in Avellino, and currently he is a composition teacher at the Conservatory “Arcangelo Corelli” in Messina.
